The Ansonica grape varietal probably has Sicilian or south-Italian origins, where it is known by the names of Inzolia or Insolia. Widespread in other Italian regions, especially southern Tuscany where it is considered a native and traditional grape, especially on Elba Island. The varietal is known for its citrus fruit aromas and aromatic herbs, the main elements which characterize the Vegoia wine, an expression that is typical of this varietal.
